Sad Nudes was a project started by producer Yulan and Vocalist Iean. The project centred on a collaborative dynamic where Yulan handled composition, production, and engineering, while Iean provided vocals and lyrical contributions. Videographer Lauren Park, Photographer WonHyuck Choi, and the Rick Rubin of Sad Nudes Daniel Song joined.
Together, they developed an alternative R&B sound that explored themes of anxiety that comes from hyper-connectivity, intimacy, and internet culture in the 2020s.
The collective/band/project/duo, whatever you might call it, has gotten quite public attention from such companies being signed to, Future Asian Music by 88 Rising. They also had attractions and many offers from companies, including Warner Music and Liberty Music.
They were also a pop producer collective, making pop music for other artists.
