The Lauren Park experimental short film, Overwhelmed’s synopsis is "Pressure makes monsters." The film captures the essence of overwhelm, a force that twists and fractures clear thought. The film captures the essence of overwhelm, a force that twists and fractures clear thought.

I wanted to make a film score that resonates and accentuates but at the same time contrasting the frustration and the disconcerting of being under immense pressure. In other words, I wanted to capture the feeling of detachment and disillusionment in the music.

Instead of going all crazy from the start, the music starts out calm and dreamy. Almost like an ambient song. The calm ambience is cut out and contrasted by the frustrated manipulated vocals, atonal synth sounds, and the distorted laggy guitar sounds. I created most of these effects out of feedback and automation of the time of the stereo digital delay plugin, repeaters plugin and foley recordings of daily objects.
